SOLO WORKS [2017-], various durations
Solo Works is a now-ongoing series of compositions for brass instruments exploring a sound-based and psychoacoustic approach to solo performance, applying extended instrument preparations and fundamental principles of electronic synthesis to this acoustic medium. Planes of extruded tone are sculpted into taut, acerbic forms, emphasizing rich timbral detail and an intense sonic physicality. Listen loud.
Various iterations of this project have been presented by QUBIT (NYC), International Anthony Burgess Foundation (Manchester), Iklectick (London), The Guesthouse (Cork), Electric Spring (University of Huddersfield), NO HAY BANDA/Suoni del Popolo (Montreal), Sonic Arts Research Unit (SARC) at Queen’s University (Belfast), Ciclo Ruido (Buenos Aires).
